Dear leaders,

At The Laughing Willow, we believe that collaboration needs to be cultivated intentionally to create high-performing teams and healthy workplaces.

That's why, over the coming months, we'll explore one practical aspect of collaboration at a time to help you strengthen relationships, improve teamwork, and build more effective organisations.

In every edition of Inspiring Connections, you'll find:

🌳 One article to deepen your understanding of the topic

🌳 Three practical nudges to experiment with during the month

🌳 A concrete way The Laughing Willow can support your teams

This month, I'm taking you through one of my favourite leadership tools: Process Communication Model® (PCM).

A simple tool... yet an incredibly rich one.

Many misunderstandings begin because we assume others think, communicate, and work the same way we do. One of the reasons I love Process Communication Model® (PCM) is that it provides a practical framework for understanding these differences.

It helps us answer questions such as:

  • How to motivate this person?

  • Why does this colleague go quiet in certain situations?

  • How to defuse tension in the team?

  • How to adapt my message to be truly heard?

  • How to give feedback that generates buy-in?

People understand each other better. They can finally speak the same language!

Which nudge will you try first next month?

  1. Observe before speaking

In your next meeting, take 30 seconds to observe:

  • Who likes to get straight to the point?

  • Who values facts and logic?

  • Who naturally builds connection?

  • Who brings energy to the group?

  • Who encourages deeper reflection?

  1. Discover what fuels your people

Ask one team member this question: "what gives you the most energy at work right now?"
Listen with genuine curiosity. You will uncover valuable insights about what motivates, engages, and inspires them. A powerful starting point for stronger relationships and greater engagement!

  1. Adapt one conversation

Choose one person on your team. Before your next interaction, ask yourself: "how can I make my message easier for this person to receive?"
More structure? More context? More recognition? More autonomy?
A small adjustment often creates a meaningful shift in the quality of a conversation.

September is often the perfect moment to realign.

After the summer break, teams return with new priorities, new challenges, and renewed energy. It's the ideal time to ask: are we truly on the same page?

That's why we offer short PCM discovery workshops, available both in person and online.

In less than one hour, participants can discover the model and begin exploring their own communication preferences.

Our workshops can be delivered as a 3-hour session (half-day format) and follow three simple steps:

1. Discover

Understand the foundations of PCM and the different personality types.

2. Explore & diagnose

In less than one hour, participants can discover their profils and begin exploring their own communication preferences. The "aha!" moment. Participants discover:

  • Their individual profile

  • Their motivational drivers

  • Their stress triggers

  • Their natural strengths and resources

3. Apply

We work from real-life situations: meetings, feedback conversations, decision-making, managing tension, cross-functional collaboration

I guide participants through practical exercises that are easy to apply in their daily work.

The result? Greater self-awareness, stronger relationships, and more effective collaboration.

Interested in discovering PCM with your team?

I hope you're enjoying the start of summer and finding time to recharge before the next season begins.
